Updates about the Go To Travel and Go To Eat campaigns

Since the initial announcement of the Go To Travel campaign, many people have taken advantage of the opportunity to boost domestic travel in Japan. While the program hasn’t been without a few hiccups, it seems that the popularity is beyond question. After initially being excluded, Tokyo is now part of the program and many of the capital city’s tourist sights are once again busy with visitors. There is also the sister program, called Go To Eat, which aims to assist the restaurant sector. This has also proven very popular and hopefully will make both restaurants and customers happy. There was also an announcement about the JR Tohoku – South Hokkaido Rail pass, aimed at foreign visitors offering a very cheap and convenient rail pass to visit many places in northern Japan. This is a sign that the government is also looking towards revitalizing the international travel market and will take big steps to assist.
