Where to go in Japan this Autumn

This time of year is a wonderful time to visit Japan, even if you have been here before. I have some suggestions of places to visit. Nikko is well known for its shrines, but further into the mountains beyond you can find spectacular scenery and waterfalls. The reason to visit in Autumn is to see the leaves change colour – all the foliage in the area shows fabulous fall scenery this time of year. If you find yourself on the other side of the country, the cooler weather makes Kyushu an ideal destination. Take the opportunity to climb some of Kyushu’s volcano peaks, just be sure to bring your hiking shoes!
