Rainy Season is here

Once again it is the time of year known as tsuyu, or simply ‘rainy season’. After the pleasant days of early summer, the weather becomes humid and sticky, then many rainy days follow. Did you know that last year Tokyo had more than 20 days in a row without the sun coming out? It’s true! Most people do what they can to avoid being outside too long in this season, but you can still have some fun. Many flowers are in bloom, most notably the hydrangeas, and if you can dodge rain showers it’s a nice time to visit the temples and parks to admire their gardens. You might also find a quiet spot to sit under some shelter and watch others try to keep dry!
