Golden Week 2019

Once again, the holiday known as Golden Week in nearly here. While actually being a number of public holidays close together, rather than a week long holiday, often it stretches to a week if there is a weekend that falls at the right time. This year is quite special, because there is an additional public holiday – the new Emperor’s coronation day. Because Japanese law says that a day between two public holidays also becomes a holiday, it adds three one-off holidays to Golden Week this year. The result is that most people will get ten days off in a row! This is very big news here in Japan, and is especially big news for the airline industry. To those who will enjoy a long holiday, please have fun and relax. To those who will have plenty of work to do, please do your best!
