Researchers propose ‘Chibanian’ as name for geologic age
2017年11月14日
Based on minerals discovered in Chiba prefecture, the newly defined time period from 126,000 years to 770,000 years ago may be named the Chibanian period. It is defined by a period when the Earth’s magnetic poles last changed. The other two candidates being considered are places in Italy, which were also used for gathering data about the period. It would be the first time a Japanese name has been used in such a way, and a rare opportunity like this might be the only time it happens.
