Japanese professor wins Nobel Prize in medicine

A Japanese microbiologist has shared the Nobel prize in medicine, winning the award for his work on therapy for diseases caused by parasitic worms. Professor Satoshi Omura of Kitasato University in Tokyo has helped reduce these diseases to the brink of eradication, which affected hundreds of millions of people every year.
