Hina Matsuri – Girl’s Festival

On March 3 every year, Japanese families celebrate Girl’s Day, a festival that promotes a bright future for each family’s daughters. A set of dolls on five or seven shelves topped with a prince and princess is displayed in the house. It is decorated with peach blossoms because this time is also known as peach festival. Originally, it was celebrated a month later in the lunar calendar when peaches are in bloom. By the way, the boy’s festival is traditionally on May 5 but now this is called Children’s Day so they share it with the girls as well.
